Mr. and Mrs. Greenaway wanted to transform their home by converting their underused garage into a stylish, modern hub for family life. Through in-depth consultations, our architectural designers developed a plan that maximised both comfort and efficiency while maintaining the character of their home.
The existing garage was cold and uninviting, but by incorporating high-performance insulation, a damp-proof membrane, and a new timber floor construction, we turned it into a warm, comfortable extension of the home. The biggest transformation came from replacing the old garage door with a brick cavity wall, carefully matched to the existing exterior for a seamless finish.
Kitchen Transformation:
With the garage conversion complete, we turned our attention to the kitchen. The Greenaway’s existing kitchen felt outdated and lacked the storage and layout needed for modern family life. Our solution was a sleek and functional Beckermann Trendline One kitchen, designed in a contemporary Lima Sand Beige and Graphite colour scheme.
The Corian Carbon Aggregate worktop, complete with a teal coloured glass splashback, added both style and durability. Every element was carefully chosen to maximise functionality, from smart storage solutions like a LeMans corner unit and deep pan drawers to integrated appliances and LED Sensio Spacia lighting that ensured the space remained bright and inviting.
Alterations Elsewhere:
To create a better connection between the new kitchen and the rest of the home, we made several structural alterations. Removing a section of the wall between the old kitchen and dining area created a more open-plan flow, while converting an old window into French doors allowed more natural light to flood in and provided easy access to the garden. New designer vertical radiators replaced the existing ones, offering both practicality and a stylish focal point. As part of the upgrades, we also removed the old heating system and installed a modern Valiant condensing combi boiler, significantly improving energy efficiency.
The result is a beautifully reimagined home that combined modern design with everyday practicality. The garage, once an unused storage space, became an integral part of the house, while the kitchen has been transformed into a stylish and functional hub for cooking, entertaining, and family life. This project highlights how a well-planned renovation can completely transform a home, enhancing both its beauty and functionality while ensuring a smooth, stress-free experience.
