Mr & Mrs Roberts
For this project, the Mr and Mrs Roberts were looking to adapt their Bramhall home to better suit day-to-day living, while also future-proofing the space for guests and changing needs. Their priority was clear: a fully accessible ground floor bathroom, paired with a dedicated utility area to house essential appliances without compromising the flow or appearance of their existing home.
To achieve this, we designed and built a single-storey rear extension, carefully matched to the original property so it feels like a natural continuation rather than an add-on. From the foundations up, the extension was constructed with thermal efficiency, comfort, and longevity in mind.
At the heart of the extension sits a spacious ground floor shower room, designed to be easy to navigate and comfortable to use for both homeowners and visiting guests. The generous layout allows for clear movement, while the large walk-in shower with fixed glass panels offers practicality without visual clutter.
The bathroom features a wall-hung WC and a compact vanity unit in Kansas Oak, introducing warmth and texture against the neutral tiling. A softly illuminated mirror cabinet provides useful storage while enhancing visibility—particularly helpful for everyday routines.
Porcelanosa tiles in Coral Acero wrap the shower area and continue across the floor, creating a cohesive finish that feels calm, durable, and easy to maintain. Subtle chrome fittings and accessories complete the space, keeping the overall look timeless and understated.
Alongside the bathroom, the extension also accommodates a dedicated utility area, giving the homeowners a much-needed space for their washing machine and tumble dryer. A fitted worktop above the appliances provides a practical surface for laundry tasks, helping to keep the main kitchen free from clutter.
Mechanical ventilation and efficient lighting ensure the space is comfortable to use year-round, while thoughtful drainage and plumbing alterations were carried out seamlessly as part of the build.
From the matching brickwork and tiled roof to the carefully selected windows and internal finishes, every element of this extension was designed to sit comfortably within the existing home. The result is a highly practical addition that enhances everyday living without drawing attention to itself.
