To better meet the needs of the Kong family, our architectural designers explored options that would open the space and maximise natural light. Through in-depth consultations, it became clear that a combination of layout adjustments and updated features could breathe new life into their home without needing major structural changes.
The Kitchen Renovation Solution:
A major part of the transformation involved modifying the existing extension. By reducing the size of the structural beams and replacing the old patio doors with a large sliding door, we allowed far more light into the kitchen and created a seamless connection to the garden. Additionally, closing off the opening to the living room made the kitchen feel more intimate and self-contained, without sacrificing its sense of space and openness. It also had the added benefit of creating two distinct lounge areas, ideal for when their teenage children wanted to entertain friends.
At the heart of the new kitchen is a stunning central island, perfect for cooking, family gatherings, and entertaining guests. The light grey and oak cabinetry from Beckermann, combined with the new layout, gives the space a fresh, modern look, making it feel larger and more inviting.
The Hidden Gem:
The standout feature of this project is the Kongs’ unique hidden utility room. Concealed behind floor-to-ceiling cabinet doors and finished with the same Beckermann cabinetry as the kitchen, the utility room blends perfectly into the design. This seamless integration ensures both spaces remain functional while maintaining a cohesive and stylish aesthetic.
