A Light-Filled Home Extension Framing Garden Views
Mr & Mrs McGoun approached us with a clear vision, they wanted to create a peaceful, light-filled home extension. With a gorgeous garden, they were keen to be able to enjoy it all year round. Their brief for the Adamsons team was simple; a calm, open space that made the most of their beautiful outdoor surroundings. They also wanted a bright, welcoming place to dine, relax, and feel connected to nature.
To deliver their vision our architectural designers created an elegant rear home extension that makes natural light the star of the show. A large lantern window was carefully positioned as the centrepiece of the space, allowing daylight to pour in from above and creating an uplifting sense of openness. Additionally, bifold doors span the back wall, opening fully to merge the interior with the patio and garden beyond. The combination of all of these natural light sources has provided the perfect home for cooking and dining, both indoors and al fresco.
A Perfect Space For The Kitchen
While the homeowners had already chosen their kitchen separately, our role was to shape the architectural envelope that would frame it. We worked closely with the clients to ensure the proportions of the extension complemented their existing home. The layout was carefully considered to avoid dark corners and ensure light travels across the full space throughout the day.
Inside, the clean lines and soft finishes offer a versatile backdrop that works equally well for hosting friends or enjoying a quiet coffee with a garden view.
