A Single Storey House Extension for this Modern Property in Cheshire

Mr & Mrs Thomson returned to us 14 years after the completion of their original single-storey house extension with Adamsons, ready to transform their kitchen space into an open plan, bright space. Initially designed with a small sunroom and utility room, the layout no longer worked for their needs. In keeping with modern trends, they wanted to embrace open-plan living to the fullest. Through structural alterations, we reimagined their space to create a stunning, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area they now absolutely love.

Structural Enhancements

The existing extension had a small sunroom that had become unused and unloved. To better suit the needs of the Thomson family, our designer proposed altering the floorplan to create a free-flowing space. We demolished the existing sunroom and moved the door to the utility room to create clear walls, allowing for a layout that centred the kitchen in the middle of the space. New, large picture windows were installed to draw in natural light and frame their beautiful garden view.

Heating & Climate Control

To complement the open-plan layout, heating was a key consideration. We introduced a modern air conditioning system, replacing the existing radiators, to provide energy-efficient climate control throughout the space.

Now, with the newly opened-up space, the Thomsons can fully embrace their home’s open-plan flow, creating a harmonious balance between cooking, dining, and relaxation areas. With the initial phase of the project complete, we turned our attention to the customer’s new kitchen.
