Making the Space Warmer and More Comfortable
Before the new kitchen was installed, work was carried out to improve the thermal performance of the existing extension. Additional insulation was introduced and underfloor heating installed, helping create a space that feels consistently warm and comfortable throughout the year. While these improvements sit largely out of sight, they have transformed how the room feels day to day. The result is a kitchen that’s not only beautiful to look at, but a vastly improved home overall, with an open plan kitchen that no longer feels chilly on cooler days.
A Timeless Farmhouse Kitchen
For the cabinetry, the homeowner chose the Masterclass Kensington range in a grained finish, painted in Scots Grey.
The traditional styling was perfectly suited to the character of the property, bringing a sense of warmth and timelessness without feeling overly ornate. The subtle texture of the grained doors adds depth and character, while the soft grey colour palette keeps the room feeling light and elegant.
Complementing the cabinetry are Corian worktops in Cosmos Prima, a deep grey finish that provides contrast and sophistication while remaining highly practical for everyday use. A soft grey glass splashback was selected to complete the look. Easy to clean and beautifully understated, it ties the different elements of the kitchen together while reflecting light around the room.
Storage: Maximised
One of the priorities for the homeowner was creating a kitchen that worked as well as it looked. A range of intelligent storage solutions were incorporated throughout the design, including tall pantry units, multiple LeMans corner units and generous drawer storage. These features help maximise every inch of available space while ensuring everyday items remain easily accessible. The result is a kitchen that feels organised, uncluttered and effortless to use.
High-Quality Appliances and Finishing Touches
Appliances from Neff were specified throughout, combining performance with sleek integration. The kitchen includes a gas hob, Slide & Hide oven, compact oven and microwave, alongside a slimline dishwasher chosen to suit the available space without compromising functionality.
To reinforce the traditional farmhouse aesthetic, the homeowner selected a classic Blanco Belfast sink. Positioned within the main working area, it provides a beautiful focal point while complementing the character of the cabinetry. Underfoot, Amtico Spacia flooring in Sash Oak introduces warmth and texture, helping bring the entire scheme together.
A Carefully Managed Installation
For this homeowner, choosing a company that could oversee the entire renovation was just as important as the kitchen itself. From improving the insulation and installing underfloor heating through to fitting the final cabinet and appliance, every stage of the project was coordinated by one experienced team.
Following completion, the homeowner specifically praised our kitchen fitter for his meticulous attention to detail throughout the installation. It’s this care and craftsmanship that often makes the biggest difference, ensuring the finished kitchen not only looks exceptional but performs beautifully for years to come.
A Kitchen Built to be Enjoyed
The finished kitchen strikes a perfect balance between traditional character and modern practicality. What was once a colder, less comfortable space has been transformed into a warm, welcoming kitchen with thoughtful storage, high-quality materials and a timeless farmhouse aesthetic.
Most importantly, it’s a kitchen designed around the way the homeowner lives comfortable, practical and built to be enjoyed every day.
