Once the new extension was in place, our focus turned to the kitchen design. It was essential that they design would do justice to the new, bright, open-plan setting. With more natural light and improved access to the garden, we were able to develop a kitchen layout that prioritised social connection and ease of use.
The new kitchen sits confidently within the extended footprint, defined by a monochromatic palette and carefully considered layout. Beckermann’s Estrada range in White Gloss brings a sharp yet understated clarity to the room. The gloss finish reflects the new flow of natural light, while glass-look edging and stainless-steel-effect carcases add simple depth and contrast.
At the heart of the design is a generous island clad in white laminate worktops with aluminium edging. It functions as a prep zone, breakfast bar and gathering spot. Working with our designer, the homeowner opted for integrated pop-up power sockets plus a concealed speaker system. They now have a kitchen that looks sleek and also has all of the practical tech they need for easy living.
Secret Storage Solutions
As always, kitchen storage was key in this project. A mix of tall housings, deep drawers, pull-out units and a concealed waste system ensures every item has a place. The cutlery trays and extended-depth carcasses (up to 650mm in places) mean the space is not only visually calm but well equipped for real cooking and hosting.
One standout feature is the bespoke window seat which was created using shallower wall units. This not only utilises the space efficiently but also offers a relaxing spot to enjoy garden views and a little extra storage.
Appliances from Neff are used throughout. A single oven and combi microwave in black stainless steel, an induction hob, ceiling extractor, and built-in dishwasher have been specified to give Mrs Rushton all of the tools needed for cooking with ease.
