Instant boiling water taps have been growing in popularity and are a highly sought after appliance when designing a new kitchen. But what’s so good about them and why should you be thinking about getting one? Let us tell you!
A boiling water tap sits in place of your current tap and dispenses boiling water at the touch of a button (or turn of a handle). You can make hot drinks instantly and dispense boiling water for pasta, vegetables and anything else you want to cook! The tap is plumbed into your existing water system and a boiler tank sits in a cabinet near the tap. This is usually below the sink. The boiler then heats and stores the water, ready to be used instantly when you need it.
There are many different makes and models of hot water taps. Some dispense hot, cold and boiling water and others dispense filtered cold and boiling water as well as standard hot and cold water. A designer can run through the options and help you decide which tap is best suited for your needs.
Boiling water taps come in a variety of styles and finishes to match your desired kitchen design. It replaces your current tap and kettle, meaning they take up very little surface space. In turn, your kitchen will look sleeker and less cluttered.
Replacing your kettle with a boiling water tap means less cables. This is especially important for families with toddlers and children who could grab cables or get caught up in them. There are many inbuilt safety features, including spring loaded handles to stop little hands being able to use the tap. All in all they are far safer than traditional kettles.
When planning a kitchen, convenience and ease are important factors. Most of us have better things to do than stand around waiting for a kettle or pan of water to boil. Hot water taps offer an elegant and practical solution to this. They work seamlessly with other time saving appliances such as induction hobs to offer a convenient and intuitive cooking experience. If you get a tap that offers filtered water, you won’t have to buy bottled water, saving time and money. The filters remove impurities and soften water and they are very easy to change. That’s a winner in our books!
It’s great when products look great and are convenient, but even better when they save us money and help the environment!
Of course, there is an initial cost of buying the tap, although they do vary in price depending on features and style, but money is saved in the long run. Kettles are often boiled and re-boiled over and over, wasting energy and therefore money, whereas with a hot water tap, you only use the water you need.
Don’t just take our word for it, property style guru Kirstie Allsopp loves her boiling water tap, even saying ‘If I were getting married, I’d say sod everything else and get everyone to chip in for a boiling water tap.’ We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!
