Mr. and Mrs. Greenaway wanted to transform their home by converting their underused garage into a stylish, modern hub for family life. Through in-depth consultations, our architectural designers developed a plan that maximised both comfort and efficiency while maintaining the character of their home.
When the Greenaways approached us, their garage was a cold and uninviting space, disconnected from the rest of the house. Their vision was to transform it into a warm, functional extension of their home. With careful planning and high-quality materials, we reimagined this underutilised area, creating a space that seamlessly blended with the rest of the home. The biggest change came from replacing the old garage door with a solid brick cavity wall, perfectly matched to the exterior of the house for a flawless finish. High-performance insulation and a damp-proof membrane were also incorporated to ensure that the space was not only visually appealing but also comfortable and energy-efficient.
Kitchen Renovation
With the garage conversion complete, our next task was to tackle the Greenaways’ kitchen, which was outdated and lacked the functionality they needed for modern family living. The new design features a sleek Beckermann Trendline One kitchen in a contemporary Lima Sand Beige and Graphite colour scheme, offering a stylish and sophisticated space for cooking and entertaining.
The kitchen’s Corian Carbon Aggregate worktop with a teal glass splashback added a bold yet refined touch, while every detail was carefully thought out to maximise both style and functionality. Smart storage solutions, like the LeMans corner unit and deep pan drawers, helped make the space more organised and user-friendly. The integration of appliances, along with LED Sensio Spacia lighting, ensured the space was bright and inviting, perfect for both everyday meals and hosting guests.
Structural Alterations & Energy Efficiency Improvements
To further enhance the connection between the kitchen and the rest of the home, we made several structural changes. We removed a section of the wall between the old kitchen and dining area, opening up the space to create a more fluid, open-plan layout. Additionally, an old window was replaced with French doors, flooding the space with natural light and providing easy access to the garden.
Aesthetic upgrades included the installation of modern vertical radiators, which not only added a stylish focal point but also improved the efficiency of the heating system. We also upgraded the home’s heating with the installation of a Valiant condensing combi boiler, significantly enhancing the property’s energy efficiency.
The Final Result
This project beautifully demonstrates how a well-planned renovation can completely transform a home. The Greenaways’ garage, once an underused and isolated area, is now an integral part of their home, offering both functionality and comfort. Meanwhile, their kitchen has been completely reimagined, becoming a stylish, high-functioning hub perfect for family life and entertaining. The entire process was designed to enhance both the beauty and practicality of the home, providing the Greenaways with a space they can truly enjoy for years to come.
