Reimagining the Ground Floor
Rather than simply replacing the kitchen, this project involved completely rethinking how the ground floor was arranged. The former kitchen space was relocated and transformed into a dedicated games room, creating a much more appropriate use of the room for family life. At the same time, the dining area and kitchen were brought together into one large open-plan space that feels connected, practical and welcoming.
The difference in flow is remarkable. Where the homeowners previously moved between separate rooms, they now enjoy a layout that feels effortless and intuitive, with each space naturally leading into the next.
Filling the Home with Natural Light
One of the most striking aspects of the finished space is the amount of natural light. Large bifold doors now open directly onto the garden, creating a seamless connection between inside and out. Multiple Velux roof windows were introduced above, drawing daylight deep into the centre of the room throughout the day.
Combined with the vaulted ceiling, these additions have completely changed the atmosphere of the space. What was once a series of enclosed rooms now feels bright, open and airy, with views out to the garden and light pouring in from multiple directions. Mr and Mrs Scott commented on just how different the room feels compared to before, with the natural light becoming one of their favourite features of the finished renovation.
A Contemporary Kitchen with Natural Warmth
The new kitchen was designed around Beckermann’s Tessina range in Oak Sunset, bringing the warmth and character of wood into a contemporary design. The natural wood effect cabinetry adds texture and depth without overwhelming the space, creating a kitchen that feels modern yet welcoming. A large central island forms the focal point of the room, providing plenty of preparation space while also creating a natural gathering point for family and guests. The overall design strikes a balance between practicality and style, delivering a space that feels both sophisticated and comfortable.
Designed For Function
Storage was carefully considered throughout the design, ensuring the kitchen remains easy to keep organised despite its open-plan nature. Integrated appliances from Neff help maintain clean lines throughout the room, while thoughtful storage solutions keep everyday items tucked neatly away. A Blanco sink paired with a Quooker tap adds further convenience, helping the kitchen work as beautifully as it looks. Underfoot, Amtico Spacia flooring runs throughout the space, while underfloor heating ensures the room feels warm and comfortable throughout the year.
A Fully Managed Transformation
This wasn’t simply a kitchen installation. It was a complete remodelling of how the ground floor worked. Structural alterations, new openings, roofing works, glazing, heating, electrics, flooring and the kitchen installation itself were all coordinated through one experienced team. By managing every aspect of the project, we were able to guide the homeowners from their initial ideas through to the finished result without them needing to juggle multiple contractors.
A Home That Works Completely Differently
The finished result is far more than a new kitchen. By bringing the kitchen and dining spaces together, introducing natural light from every angle and creating a dedicated games room elsewhere in the home, the entire ground floor now works in a completely different way. What was once a series of disconnected rooms has become the true heart of the home: a bright, open-plan space designed around spending time together.
